Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's services 

The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s services is the replacement qualification for the NVQ level 4 in Leadership and Management Award.   The Qualification is aimed at individuals who lead social care provision in an Adult or a children and young people’s setting either as Managers, or senior practitioners. 

This qualification is the accepted qualification for registration and regulatory requirements for the Sector.

 

 

                             The qualification consists of six pathways:

  • Management of Adult Services
  • Management of Adult Residential Services
  • Practice in Adult Services
  • Management of Children and Young People’s Residential Services
  • Management of Children and Young Peoples Services
  • Practice in Children and Young Peoples Services 

Programme Outline

 

To achieve the level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services learners must achieve a minimum of 80 credits, 58 from the mandatory units and 22 from the optional  units. 

Assessment is through evaluation of work-based performance, presenting evidence and compulsory attendance at work –shops. The work - shops are designed to support the mandatory units and will provide the learner with the knowledge in the following areas:

  • Champion equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Promote professional development
  • Lead and manage a team within a health and social Care or children’s setting
  • Working in partnership in health and social care or children and young

       People’s settings.

Entry Requirements

The course is open to learners of any age, of either gender and there are no entry barriers on the grounds of creed or academic attainment in learning However the learner must be working at an appropriate management level in a suitable care environment and ensure they are in a position where they can consistently demonstrate competence and application of knowledge. This will be confirmed at interview stage.  This qualification is not suitable for any persons under the age of 19.

Cost -   £1, 4950 – including registration and certification with City and Guilds, Four training work –shops, Induction, Assessment and Internal verification.

Funding is available subject to criteria.

Start Date – 16th February  2012

Length of programme – 12 – 18 months.
