Travelling by Bus
From Forest of Dean, Gloucester, or via Gloucester, you must take a bus that travels through Longlevens or Churchdown, and Golden Valley, not via Brockworth. The bus will take you past the ‘Golden Valley‘. Past GCHQ on left, and straight over next roundabout, in the direction of Cheltenham, passing Dean Close School and the Police HQ on the right. Get off the bus at Westall Green with the Petrol Station on your right, and the Lansdown Bar (previously Lansdown Hotel) on your left. Buses stopping at this stop are nos. 94, N94, 97, 98.
You are now on Lansdown Road, approaching the Montpellier area of Cheltenham. Walk towards Montpellier and Cheltenham centre. After approx ¼ mile take the first turning left into Lansdown Walk, then past the Regency Terraced houses, Left into Lansdown Place Lane. This is a light industrial area. Turn immediately right into Lansdown Crescent Lane, Turn immediately left again, and Independent Training is on the left.
From Tewkesbury Area by Car
Leave Tewkesbury in the direction of Cheltenham on the A38. At Coombe Hill traffic lights turn Left, Pass over the M5 Motorway. Pass Sainsburys and Homebase on left. Be in outside lane approaching the roundabout at MacDonald’s, and take the third exit onto Princess Elizabeth Way. (Signposted Gloucester and M5 Southbound.)
Take the second exit at the Coronation Square “Roundabout, and Pass GLOSCAT on right. Pass GCHQ on right, and turn left at the next roundabout, in the direction of Cheltenham. Follow directions marked ** below
Alternative route via M5
Join M5 at Junction 9, southbound. Leave M5 at Junction 11 in the direction of Cheltenham. At the “Golden Valley” Roundabout go straight across, in the direction of Cheltenham, passing GCHQ on left. Go straight over next roundabout in the direction of Cheltenham. ** Continue straight over 2 main sets of traffic lights, passing Dean Close School and the Police HQ on the right. At the next lights keep in left lane and continue straight on with the Westall Green Petrol Station on the right and The Lansdown Bar (Previously Lansdown Hotel) on the left. You are on Lansdown Road, approaching the Montpellier area of Cheltenham. After approx ¼ mile turn left across the Bus Lane and take the first turning left into Lansdown Walk, left into Lansdown Place Lane, and immediately right. Turn immediately left again and Independent Training is on your left.
There is on-street parking in the immediate vicinity, and at the far end of Lansdown Crescent Lane, at the junction with Lansdown Place Lane there is a small, enclosed public car park on the left.
From Forest of Dean By car
Travel to Over on the outskirts of Gloucester, either by the A40 or the A48 Pass ‘Over Farm Market’ on the left and continue over the traffic lights and straight over at the roundabout, following signs for Cheltenham. At the next (Longford) roundabout, straight over, follow sign to Cheltenham. At the end of this stretch of ring road, at the Longlevens roundabout take the middle lane, and the second exit in the direction of Cheltenham. Pass over the M5 Motorway. At the end of the ‘Golden Valley‘ Gloucester to Cheltenham road, straight over at the roundabout (3rd Exit)- Pass GCHQ on left, and straight over next roundabout, in the direction of Cheltenham. Continue straight over 2 main sets of traffic lights, passing Dean Close School and the Police HQ on the right At the next lights keep in left lane and continue straight with the Westall Green Petrol Station on your right, and the Lansdown Bar (previously Lansdown Hotel) on your left. You are on Lansdown Road, approaching the Montpelier area of Cheltenham. From Gloucester by Car
Leave Gloucester in the direction of Cheltenham on the A40 Pass over the M5 Motorway. From Central Cheltenham
Take the A40 from Montpellier Gardens Roundabout, in the direction of Gloucester. Once on the Lansdown Road, take the first turning Right into Lansdown Walk, Left into Lansdown Place Lane, and immediately right. Turn immediately left again and Independent Training is on your left.
There is on-street parking in the immediate vicinity, and at the far end of Lansdown Crescent Lane, at the junction with Lansdown Place Lane there is a small, enclosed public car park on the left.
From OXFORD, BURFORD, NORTHLEACH AND STOW-ON-THE-WOLD
Travel towards Cheltenham on the A40. Drive through Charlton Kings in the Direction of Cheltenham centre, along the London Road. Pass the Beaufort Inn on the right. Follow the signs for M5, Gloucester and Stroud, and the Hospital, turning left into Sandford Mill Road. At the junction turn left into Old Bath Road. At the mini roundabout turn right into Sandford Road. Pass hospital on right and Cheltenham College grounds on left. At traffic lights turn right and immediately left, into Montpellier Terrace, passing Eagle star building on the right. At Montpellier Gardens Roundabout, take the A40 in the direction of Gloucester. Once on the Lansdown Road, take the first turning Right into Lansdown Walk, Left into Lansdown Place Lane, and immediately right. Turn immediately left again and Independent Training is on your left. There is on-street parking in the immediate vicinity, and at the far end of Lansdown Crescent Lane, at the junction with Lansdown Place Lane there is a small, enclosed public car park on the left.
From Stroud Area
Travel towards Cheltenham on the A46, Drive through Shurdington, and continue straight towards central Cheltenham until the roundabout with the Norwood Arms Pub on the right. Turn left at this roundabout onto the Bath Road. Continue along Bath Road, (Local shopping area) At the 4th set of Traffic Lights (just before the Eagle Star Building, Cheltenham College on your right) turn left towards Montpellier, passing Montpellier Gardens and tennis courts on Right. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit, over the lights and traffic island and onto the Lansdown Road, (A40) in the direction of Gloucester and M5. Take the first turning on your right (Lansdown Walk) take the first left (Lansown Place Lane) and then right into Lansdown Crescent Lane. Follow the road round and Independent Training will be on your left. On-street parking is available, or there is a small enclosed public parking area at the junction of Lansdown Crescent Lane and Lansdown Place Lane.
From Bristol/ South Gloucestershire
Travel north on M5 motorway Exit at Junction 11 Follow the directions to Cheltenham, passing over the M5 Motorway. At the end of the ‘Golden Valley‘ Gloucester to Cheltenham road, straight over at the roundabout (3rd Exit) Pass GCHQ on left, and straight over next roundabout, in the direction of Cheltenham.
