The Certificate in the Safe Handling of Medicines is designed for staff who are responsible for the administration of medicines.
The course introduces the Certificate in the Safe Handling of Medicines to ensure that carers administer medications safely to their clients. You will learn to ensure that all documentation is clear, concise and up to date and you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the legal aspect and local policies of medications.
Attendance at an introduction course to introduce the Certificate in the Safe Handling of Medicines is required. This is followed by completion of workbooks for 5 modules, usually completed by the candidate over a 12 week period:
- An Introduction to Medicines and Prescriptions
- Medicine Supply, Storage and Disposal
- The Safe Administration of Medication
- Quality Control and Record Keeping
