This course provides carers with an insight into the needs of clients where personal care is provided, and sets out the parameters within which Carers must work, to meet Gloucestershire Social Services Clinical Tasks Policy and Guidance for Adult & Children's Services, Infection Control and Intimate Personal Tasks.
This course is set to be completed within three and a half hours.
Course is delivered using a power point presentation, flip chart, role play and a quiz, handouts will be available at the end of the course.
Course Contents :-
-Information relating to legislation and guidelines to protect both the client and carer.
-Discussion regarding the difference between personal care and intimate personal care.
-Confidentiality.
-Uniform policy.
-What are good caring skills.
-Acceptable and negotiable care tasks.
-Advice regarding assisted dressing and bed bathing.
-C.O.S.H.H.
-R.I.D.D.O.R.
-Advice regarding pressure ulcers.
-Information about M.R.S.A and CDIF.
There are two activities within this course and a quiz at the end. Both activities place the carer in the position of the client, to ensure they understand how the client feels. Candidates need to wear clothing that can accommodate the possibility of other clothing being put on top.
