Continence Awareness & Catheter Care

This course is set to be completed within two and a half hours with a short quiz at the end, and handouts of the course will be available. The course devised especially for Care Staff & Support Workers to raise their awareness of the causes of Incontinence, the use of continence Aids, promotion of good practice, and the care of clients with catheters.

Course is delivered using a power point presentation, actual incontinence aids and flip chart

Course content covers:-
Underpinning knowledge of the urinary and faecal systems.
In- depth discussions, with use of actual equipment, on:-
Incontinence aids, inc. pads, convenes,
Types, location, and care of catheters.
Urostomys, ileostomys and colostomy’s
Discussions and use of power point presentation to gain understanding on:-
Who is incontinent?
How to promote incontinence
What abnormalities may occur
How different religions and beliefs can effect the way we can offer care
